Truth Or Dare plunges into the shadow economy of disinformation, where truth becomes a battleground and lies are a business model. Set in Bulgaria but uncannily familiar everywhere, the film follows two opposing protagonists: Genka, a fearless investigative journalist whose work has earned her death threats and two burned cars, and Ivan, an engineer-turned-propagandist who manufactures conspiracy theories, homophobia, and anti-EU narratives for profit and political influence.
As Genka investigates how fake news is created, financed, and strategically distributed, the film exposes the hidden networks that amplify falsehoods, especially when power is at stake. With a restrained, observational approach, Truth Or Dare lets its characters reveal themselves, uncovering the psychology, absurdity, and very real consequences of disinformation. What emerges is a chilling portrait of a system where manipulation is legal, morality is optional, and even those spreading lies may be pawns in a much larger game.
