Directed by Anna-Karin Gronroos
Production: Venla Helstedt/Tuffi Films (Finland)
Documentary Feature (75 mins)
Conductivity is an observational documentary about creative leadership told through the story of three young conductors; I-Han Fu from Taiwan, Emilia Hoving from Finland and James Kahane from France. They study orchestral conduction in the Sibelius Academy in Helsinki, Finland. They are guided on their study path by professor Atso Almila, who does his best to encourage the young conductors in this highly competitive field. An admired visiting professor, Finnish Radio Symphony Orchestra’s Chief Conductor Hannu Lintu enters the stage and electrifies the atmosphere. We follow the young talents on their rocky road, where tension and elements out of their control can create insurmountable obstacles.
